Deadline for medical admissions has been extended till May 25

Following the court order, students under Maratha reservation had held a protest in Mumbai demanding that the order be revoked or number of seats increased. 

PUNE: In the backdrop of Supreme Court’s order on cancellation of 16 per cent reservation to Maratha community under Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) category, State Common Entrance Test (CET) cell has announced that dates of medical admission to postgraduate courses in medicine and dental have been extended till May 25. 

Following the court order, students under Maratha reservation had held a protest in Mumbai demanding that the order be revoked or number of seats increased. 

Previously, the State CET cell had announced that May 15 will be the last date for fresh application for the admission for the postgraduate medical courses. However, due to protest, the State government had asked the commission to extend the date by a week.

Anand Rayate, Commissioner of State CET cell, stated that the admission process for this course has been suspended till May 20. He also stated that the provisional merit list is likely to be changed.
