Dagdusheth to display replica of Brhamaspati temple

Pune: To mark the 125th year of Ganesh festival, Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust will be displaying a replica of the Brhamaspati temple.

The trustees said the idol will be decorated with 40 kg gold jewellery. The replica will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Ganesh Chatruthi, i.e. Friday evening, said Chief Trustee Ashok Godse.

Corporators Hemant Rasane, Mahesh Suryavanshi, Sunil Rasne, Manik Chavan, Balasaheb Paranjape and Prakash Chavan were present for the press conference held on Monday. The trustees announced that the installation or 'Pranapratishthapana' will be conducted at 10:09 am by Ganeshnath Maharaj of Gorakshanath Math, Trimbakeshwar.

Godse said the trust has sent invitations to various chief ministers. He added that on Rishipanchami, 25,000 women will assemble to recite the 'Atharvashirsha'. He added that the trust has obtained an insurance policy worth Rs 50 crore considering the safety of devotees thronging the makeshift temple. The trust has installed 150 CCTV cameras.

The gold ornaments include a 9.5 kg crown, a 'Shundahar', a special type of necklace weighing 700 gm, a pair of earrings weighing 2 kg, a robe weighing 2.5 kg, a stole weighing 3.5 kg, a dhoti weighing 6.5 kg and a garland of 1 kg.
