Cyber crime cell arrests fake IAS officer

PUNE: Officials of the Cyber Crime Cell arrested a 47-year-old man from Nalasopara East in Mumbai for allegedly posing as an IAS officer and cheating a woman to the tune of Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of marrying her. 

Police Inspector Jayram Paigude of Cyber Crime Cell said the accused, identified as Nandlal Yadav, registered himself on a matrimony site and used fake identity card of an IAS officer.

“The accused posed as an IAS officer and used a fake name Akshansh Yadav. We have seized a fake identity card by the same name from the accused. Following the complaint from the victim, the accused was traced and arrested from Nalasopara in Mumbai. The victim approached the police after the accused did not marry her. We appeal to people to come forward if they have been cheated similarly,” added Paigude.
