Crime Branch sleuths recover 8 stolen bikes

Pune: Sleuths from the Anti-Organised Crime Cell (South Region) of Pune police Crime Branch nabbed three criminals on record and recovered eight stolen bikes from their possession.

The police identified the accused as Pavan Sonaji Ingle (25), Mohan Bhikaji Kamble (24) and Netaji Narayan Ghodke (35), all residents of  Walhekarwadi, Chinchwad.

Acting on a tip-off received by policeman Ramesh Chaudhar, a team led by Police Inspector Ram Rajmane laid a trap at Chandni Chowk on Monday. “The team had received information that the accused were going to Katraj for selling a stolen bike. When the accused persons were asked to stop, they started fleeing. Our team caught them after a chase,” DCP (Crime) Pankaj Dahane said.

ACP Suresh Bhosale added, “During interrogation, the accused told us about eight motorcycles which they had stolen from Pimpri-Chinchwad. We will return the bikes to their owners after getting court orders.”

A magistrate court remanded the accused persons into police custody till August 3.

The investigation team included PSI Uttam Budgude, ASI Rajendrasingh Chauhan and policemen Ravindra Kadam, Bhalchandra Borkar, Sunil Chikhle, Ganesh Salunke, Sanjay Barkade, Ajay Uttekar, Kailash Salunke,Rakesh Khunwe, Pravin Padwal, Vivek Jadhav, Nitin Sawal and Gangawane.
