Pune: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Laxman Jagtap has appealed to Pimpri-Chinchwad citizens to contact him on a mobile number or email address in case any private hospital issues them an inflated bill for COVID-19 treatment at their facilities. MLA Jagtap has asked citizens to contact Dr Satish Kamble on 7507411111 or write and send their complaints to firstname.lastname@example.org email address.
MLA Jagtap has also assured that after contacting, the grievances of the concerned citizens regarding the bills would be resolved. Jagtap has issued a press statement in this regard.
In the statement, he says, "The government has issued a notification to implement the Epidemic Diseases Act March 13, 2020, in the state to curb the spread of the COVID-19 Rules 2020 act has been enacted to prevent and control the contagious disease of COVID-19 in the state."
"Some restrictions have been imposed on private hospitals under these acts. The law also specifies the cost of treatment for COVID-19 and other ailments. Accordingly, private hospitals are required to charge patients for treatment as per the law. However, there are several complaints that private hospitals in Pimpri-Chinchwad are still extorting money from poor patients. Many are falling prey to extortion by private hospitals and handing over their life savings to the hospitals. As a result, such poor patients are suffering huge financial losses," Jagtap has said.
"If there is any unjustified demand or obstruction or denial of treatment in any of the private hospitals in the city, then the concerned person should inform Dr Kamble on the phone number given. Citizens sending emails will be contacted immediately to find out their problem," he has stated in the release.
MLA Jagtap has assured that the complaints lodged by the citizens regarding the bills for the hospitals will be resolved.
