COVID-19 Pune: BJP MLA discharged from hospital; starts #MaskForSafePCMC campaign on social media

Pimpri: BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, who had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 29, has been discharged from the Aditya Birla Hospital in Chinchwad and is advised to stay in home isolation for next 15 days. Landge, through his Facebook account, has appealed to his followers and citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad to share their photos with masks on his Facebook wall. Landge has started a trend #MaskForSafePCMC and vowed to make Pimpri-Chinchwad 'Coronavirus Free' at the earliest, as a 'Gurudakshina' on the occasion of Guru Pournima on Sunday (July 5). He has about 68 thousand followers on Facebook.
Landge is the Pimpri-Chinchwad City Unit President, of the Bhartiya Janata Party. He was elected from the Bhosari assembly constituency on a BJP ticket in the 2019 state assembly elections. Landge showed symptoms of COVID-19 after which his swab was collected by the health staff. His report came on June 29, which confirmed that he has been tested positive for COVID-19. He was immediately shifted to the hospital. Contact tracing of Landge had shown that six of his family members were also corona positive. They were also admitted to the hospital and have been discharged along with him on Sunday. His family members will also remain in home isolation till July 20.
In his latest Facebook post, Landge says "Namaste, Me and my family are now stable and in good health condition. We are getting treatment from PCMC's Dr Vinayak Patil, which will continue till July 15 to 20."
Appealing citizens to wear masks whenever they step out of home, Landge in his post says, "Just like a Guru shapes our life, the Pimpri-Chinchwad city has made us what we are. On today's occasion of Guru Pournima, let us give the 'Gurudakshina' of making this city 'Coronafree' as soon as possible. I appeal to all citizens to share your photo with a mask on social media with the hashtags #MaskForSafePCMC #PCMCFightsCorona."
Landge was seen along with former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during his recent visit to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) hospital dedicated to COVID-19 patients.
