COVID-19 Pune: Antigen testing started in societies of Kothrud

Pune: An initiative to increase Covid-19 testing at the society or apartment level has been undertaken in the Kothrud area. Antigen testing was started in Sneha Paradise Society in the presence of Corporator Deepak Mankar. The move comes in the backdrop of rising Covid-19 cases in residents of various societies and townships in the most populated suburb of Pune city.

Society President Hanumant Balkwade, Ram Sonar, Pune Municipal Corporation Divisional Health Inspector Ram Sonawane, Navnath Mokashi, Junior Engineer Narendra Pardeshi, Dr. Snehal Nigde, Dilip Kanade etc were present.

The first Covid-19 patient was found in society areas of Kothrud. Later on it spread over to the slum and densely populated areas. Now again a large number of Covid-19 patients are being identified in the society area. It was thus necessary to increase the testing in the society areas to curb the spread of coronavirus. Kothrud so far was in the green zone with regards to the Covid-19 total cases, but is now headed to become the red zone of the city.

Currently tests are being conducted at Raut Hospital and Annasaheb Patil School. The response from citizens is good as an initiative has been started at the society level for the convenience of the citizens. People are coming forward to get the tests done themselves.”
