Exclusive anti-COVID-19 stores across the city are selling protective gears at a reasonable price. The shop owners in Pune acknowledge the growing need and demand for sanitisers, gloves and masks; hence, several anti-COVID-19 stores have been set up catering to the general public's need of the hour.
Protective gears like face shields, masks, personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, sanitisers, pulse oximeter, sanitiser stands, disinfectants, antiseptic liquids, infrared thermometers, and sprayers are being sold across the city.
Not only are the exclusive stores selling protective gears, but they are also promoting local manufacturers avoiding the use of Chinese products.
According to reports, the shopkeepers understand people are being looted with expensive pieces of equipment and believe their stores will enable the public with a wide range of choice and the gears are sold at affordable price. Some shop owners claim they opened stores to support local manufacturers.
Sources said, public resort to video calling before deciding what to buy, this decreases the crowd at the store and social distancing norms are strictly followed.
There are some hurdles when it comes to finding manufacturers for items like the infrared thermometer, but there has been an increase in local manufacturing units, said a local shop owner.
The need for protective gear increases in Pune with Unlocking-1 and surge in coronavirus cases. The city recorded 515 new cases on Friday, taking the total tally to 13,750, and the death count has increased up to 552.
