Coronavirus: Step out of home without reason, face action via drone, warns Pune police

Pune: Concerned about the rise in alarming incidences reported about coronavirus positive cases and citizens freely stepping outside their houses without wearing masks, Pune police will be taking some harsh measures. Disobedient citizens will be facing action via drone. Not only police will be eyeing, but with the help of drone device with speakers will be pointing at individuals and filing cases. 

Pune City Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) Ravindra Shisve told Sakal Times, “Despite taking effective measures, blocking the road and tried other means of handing people by penalising under disobediences law and canning them but still, there are few citizens who are moving out of their houses carelessly just to stroll, sit in groups chatting and they are not even wearing masks. 

“Due to roadblock, our officers cannot reach all places, and to keep a tab on each area, we have come up with a smart way of policing with the help of drone. We have added Speaker to such device which will help to reach out minutely and observe their movement too.”

Giving out more details on the pilot project, he added, “On the pilot project we have presently started in containment zone especially in the sealed area where there are maximum cases reported of coronavirus as well as people staying in huge number. We have identified areas like Tadiwala road, Bhawani Peth, Kasewadi, Lohiyanagar and other such nearby locations we have targeted. 

“If captured under drone such on immediate bases, we are initially alerting them and if help repeatedly we with the help of drone images filing cases against them. For such a task, we have come up with a separate control room in a chowkies which is monitoring them.”

He further added that this step would be further helpful even to share a few precautionary measures with citizens.
