Coronavirus Pune: Retired health officials apathy towards PMC’s appeal

Pune: The retired Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) health officials and employees have paid no heed to the request by the PMC to join the services on the background of COVID-19. PMC had appealed them three days ago, and not a single person so far has come forward.

On the background of coronavirus outbreak, PMC had appealed the retired corporation health department officials, employees to join service. However, no one responded yet.

While speaking to Sakal Times, PMC, establishment department, head, Anil Muley said, “PMC appealed three days ago. But, we have not got any response till date. We require manpower to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak situation. Currently, we want manpower in the health department, but at the same time, we cannot force them to join. It is up to them to take the decision.”

He further said, “We have also started the recruitment process to fill the backlog of the health department.”

However, the official didn’t mention how to implement the recruitment process in this situation.

Meanwhile, one of the senior officials of the PMC health department said, “State government has already approved to initiate the recruitment process for the health department. Besides that, we appealed retired officers to join duty. We decided to take online examination for 123 post of class-1 officers which includes experienced doctors and specialists.”
