Coronavirus Pune: Police to issue QR code passes for essential sectors

Joint CP Ravindra Shivase said, “We have had a meeting with the representatives of all those engaged in essential services. They were being given permits for smooth movement during the lockdown period. We hope this will normalise supplies soon.”

Pune: Digital QR code passes will be given to the representatives involved in the essential commodity sectors, including grocery and milk. This was decided in a meeting between the representatives and joint commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Shisave held here on Thursday. The 21-day coronavirus lockdown has impacted many businesses and hit the economy. However, the administrations have been trying to smooth the functioning. 

Indraneel Chitale, Partner, Chitale Dairy, said, “There was confusion among the people involved in the trade and distribution of essential commodities. Now, it has been decided that a list of staff will be sent by each organisation. And the list will include the manager, dealers, distributors and drivers with their vehicle number and license details. A pass will be issued to these people, and thus they will be authorised people who will be on the road.

“The police can verify them with the help of passes. It will ensure the stable supply of essential commodities,” added Chitale.

Pune has seen 20 positive cases of coronavirus infection. In the wake of the current situation, the situation in the city remains delicate like most of the country.
