Coronavirus Pune: PMC releases new ward-wise list of COVID-19 active, cured cases

Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in India. Day by day the numbers of coronavirus patients are increasing rapidly along with the death toll which is also on the rise.

The first case in Maharashtra can be traced back to March 6 in Pune, after which the numbers have increased exponentially.

As of now, in Pune city till Thursday morning, a total of 10,643 COVID-19 positive patients have been reported, and 481 patients have died due to the outbreak.

There are currently 42 wards under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and such wards have further been divided into 16 major wards to keep a tab of cases.

The five worst-affected wards under PMC are the Dhole-Patil road, Yerawada-Kalas-Dhanori area and Kasba-vishrambaug followed with Bhawani Peth and Shivajinagar-Ghokhaleroad ward.

And the active cases are the highest in Kasba Peth and Vishrambaug area with 422, followed by Wanawadi-Ramtekdi area with 365 cases and then Sinhagad road with 341 and Dhole Patil road with 306. The least cases have been reported from Warje-Karve Nagar area with 46 cases, and a total of 102 cases have been reported from Kothrud Bavdhan wards respectively.

As per the new ward-wise positive cases distribution, and by the updates of medical records by the Maharashtra State health department which includes Pune Smart City and PMC, a total of 10,643 coronavirus positive cases have been transmitted as of Wednesday. After completing the ward mapping, out of 10,213 reported cases a total of 3,449 cases are still active.

Dhole-Patil road area has reported 1772 Coronavirus positive cases and 306 are active patients, second is the Yerawada-Kalas Dhanori area with 1,126 positive cases with 250 active patients. The third is the Kasba-vishrambaug area with 1,086 patients and 422 active cases. Looking into the wards outside of PMC jurisdiction, there are 457 cases of COVID-19 out of which 176 are active cases.

In Bhawani Peth area the number has gone down to 976 total cases, with 171 active cases, and in Shivajinagar-Ghokhale road ward 862 have reported positive out of which 297 are active as of today.

In the Wanawadi-Ramtekdi ward, there is a slight rise to 763 cases, out of which 365 are active cases. Bibewadi ward has 617 cases with 170 that are active cases.

Sinhagad road ward is turning to be the new hot-spot of this COVID-19 pandemic with 534 cases of coronavirus, of which 341 are active. While in Hadapsar-Mundhwa area 450 cases positive and 186 are active today. In the Dhankawadi-Shakarnagar area, there are 406 positive cases of which 186 are active.

On Ahmednagar road to Vadgoansheri, the number of COVID-19 cases reported is a total of 398, of which 177 are active. The situation in Aundh-Baner is under control with 296 total COVID-19 patients of which 211 are currently active. In the Kondhwa-Yewalewadi area, the number of COVID-19 positive cases dropped to 238 patients and 111 cases remain active. In the Kothrud-Bavdhan ward, 142 positive cases have been found and 102 are active cases. The Warje-Karve Nagar ward is one of the least affected areas with only 90 positive cases and 46 active cases.

PMC's standing committee chairman Hemant Rasane said to Sakal Times, "Such a ward wise study is helping us to get minute details of each of wards, and spread of the virus in those areas. Based on this study we can work on our strategy, and continue marking the containment zones, sealing areas along with other tasks which can be carried out effectively."

PMC commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad said, "It's more than three and a half months that our team and experts are working on this line, which is helping us to prepare our action plan on the field and by checking the ground realities. We can know the ward wise scenario and also medical facilities in those areas, and they can be arranged along with demarcating some areas where the movement has to be restricted."
