Coronavirus Pune: PMC intensifies survey in sealed areas, maximum teams in Hadapsar, Yerawada

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified the survey in newly sealed 22 areas as part of its containment plan for the Coronavirus spread. The PMC has deployed maximum teams in Hadapsar (94) and Yerawada (77) areas.

Based on the COVID-19 deaths and infected cases in the areas, the PMC has regions divided in different zones; areas are mapped by the Pune Smart City Development Corporation (PSDCL). Considering that, the PMC sealed new 22 areas.

Shekhar Gaikwad, the PMC Commissioner, said, "The district administration and the police department have sealed the areas and restricted movements of residents. Our teams have started the survey. The clear picture of the exact spread of the virus in the areas will become clear as the survey progresses."

Dr Vaishali Jadhav, PMC health department assistant medical officer, said, "The civic administration is surveying the city. However, we have focused more on sealed areas. We have increased teams in those areas. 795 teams are doing the survey. We have divided the city into 49 clusters."

The civic administration has already provided additional staff to Bhavani Peth ward office to expedite the survey work and execute containment measures.
