Coronavirus Pune: PCMC employees to MLA to Police Commissionerate test positive

Pimpri: The number of coronavirus cases in Pimpri Chinchwad area is rapidly increasing day by day. Initially, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation employees as well as the MLA contracted the virus, but now even the Police Commissionerate is prone to transmit the virus. On Wednesday, seven more policemen tested positive for the virus. This brings the number of policemen who contracted the virus to 24.

The policemen, who were tested positive on Wednesday includes three officers and four employees.

A day before that, a senior police inspector in the Alandi area reported positive for COVID-19. All the police officers who came in contact with him were then tested for the virus. And on Wednesday, six police staff, who were in contact with him tested positive. One more policeman tested positive from the Wakad police station.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has so far transmitted the virus to 24 policemen. Currently, eight policemen are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Eighteen people have been discharged from the hospital.

Most of the discharged policemen have also resumed their duties after completing the treatment.
