Coronavirus Pune: NCL research scholars distribute PPE kits

Pune: A group of research scholars, Marathi@NCL, from CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune collected funds for donating Personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to Pune Police, Sassoon and Naidu hospitals that are fighting against corona on the front line in the city.

Collected funds
Marathi@NCL collected funds from research scholars, scientists, alumni and non-scientific staff working at CSIR-NCL, Pune. Before donating 200 PPE kits, Marathi@NCL had also contributed to Maharashtra CM relief funds by donating 1 lakh rupees, at the beginning of lockdown”, said the press release.

Safety precautions laid down during distribution
Considering the increasing spread of COVID-19, on Friday, the Marathi@NCL volunteers distributed 200 PPE kits among city hospitals and Pune SP office. The task of PPE kits distribution was carried out by taking all the safety precautions laid down by the administrative guidelines. This donation was carried out as there was a scarcity of PPE kits in the concerned hospitals, which feared hospital staff while assisting Corona infected patients. City police also are the one that are directly exposed to the people while working on the ground level. To extend their helping hands under this situation, Marathi@NCL provided PPE kits to protect Police officers, which is the least thing we could do considering emergency lockdown situation.

Always ahead in helping
Being responsible research community, Marathi@NCL had always responded to these kinds of emergencies in the past also, be it Kerala and Western Maharashtra flood calamity, Marathwada drought situation or helping needy students from rural area for their education. The group is looking forward to responding to such emergencies whenever needed.
