Coronavirus Pune: Lockdown 4.0 wouldn’t have major changes for city

Pune: District collector Naval Kishore Ram on Monday said that while there would be some relaxations, lockdown 4.0 would not have major changes for Pune as it is in the red zone area for COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking about the changes in red, green and orange zones of Pune district, collector Naval Kishore Ram said that Pune and PCMC areas are currently in red zones. “However, there are some relaxations in PCMC areas. Going ahead the containment zones would change based on the number of cases in that particular zone,” added Ram.

He also said that the administration is planning to start registration offices and RTO offices. “Not more than five staff would be allowed at such offices and social distancing norms have to be maintained,” added Ram.

Speaking on other relaxations collector Ram said that restaurants would be allowed to provide parcel to their customers and some sports activity would be allowed but without an audience. The collector and Divisional commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar said that they are yet to receive the details of activities permitted in lockdown 4.0 from the State government.

Throwing more light to the precautions taken at the district level to contain the pandemic further, the district collector said that Junnar taluka had set an example in containing the pandemic.

“The Grampanchayat of Junnar taluka is themselves testing people and keeping a watch on them so that people with COVID-19 symptoms are rushed to hospitals. Just as there is a need to focus on cities, rural areas should also keep a watch and take precautions to contain the pandemic. We are also keeping a watch on people travelling inter-district so that they do not spread the virus.” added Ram.

Speaking on the suo moto lockdown called in some villages of chakan, jejuri, Daund and others Collector Naval Kishore Ram said that it was illegal and appealed to people to respond to calls only made by the administration.

As stone crushing job would provide job opportunities to workers, District collector Naval Kishore Ram on Monday allowed stone crushing activity in Pune, barring areas of containment zones. The district collector said that stone crushers could start their operation provided they stick to the norms of social distancing and using sanitisers to contain the spread of the pandemic.
