Coronavirus Pune: BT Kawade Road area to be sealed for five days

Pune: Pune continues to witness a huge spike in the spread of the novel coronavirus. The administration, medical services and the police are on their toes to curb the COVID-19 but every day is a new challenge for them. Now the Pune most sensitive and prone area for the spread of contagion BT Kawade Road will be sealed for few days.

The BT Kawade Road and some parts of the area have been declared as the 74th Cantonment Zone (Restricted Area) of the city. As over 43 positive cases were found positive in this area. Now the area of the Bharat Forge, Kalyani Steel Company, Shirke Company, Shinde Vasti, Ghorpadi area of Pune cantonment area, Miraj railway line area, Solapur railway track including Srinathnagar, B T Kawade Road, Pawar Vasti, Shaktinagar, Panchsheel Nagar, Ghopardi Gaon, Failwadi Chawl, Bhim Nagar has been sealed till June 30.

The entire road will be closed for travelling while the slums pockets and 30 residential societies will also be sealed for this duration. The delivery of milk will be allowed between 7 am to 9 am. During these five days, the medical shops will run from 9 am to 7 pm.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Dayanand Sonkamble, the ward officer-in-charge at the Dhole Patil ward office said, “Some coronavirus positive patients were found in the area and 194 people came in contact with them. The swab testing was done. In this investigation, 43 people were found positive. Due to non-compliance of social distancing norms by the citizens and dense population dwelling in this area we have sealed the area till June 30 as per the order of the order. We had informed the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner who then granted permission to seal it.”

Meanwhile, Pune city on Wednesday reported 526 new COVID-19 cases with 17 fatalities.
