Coronavirus Pune: BJMC, SGH launch helpline for mental health queries

PUNE: To address the growing number of questions regarding mental health, the BJ General Medical College (BJGMC) and Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) have started a helpline number to aid people with their psychological problems, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

“The helpline number 020-26127331 will remain functional 24x7. The idea of the helpline is to help people deal with psychological problems like anxiety, stress, fear, loneliness and others,” said officials from SGH.

A similar helpline number was also started by the State Psychologist Association (SPA) and Sakal Social Foundation this week. Pallavi Inamdar, a member of SPA from Pune, said that this helpline number has people calling are mostly in panic.

“Some of them have fears about how this pandemic will impact migrants and society in whole. Some already are patients of depression, and they are advised to seek consultation from their psychologists,” said Inamdar.
