Coronavirus Pune: 65 Puneites return from foreign, quarantined

Pune: Under the Union government's 'Vande Bharat' mission to bring distressed Indians from foreign countries, 65 Indians came to Pune via buses on Sunday morning. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has quarantined them in a hotel in the outskirts of the city.

According to PMC officials, as many as 65 Indians landed at Mumbai International airport at 1.30 am on Sunday. All these passengers were screened at the airport and later were departed towards Pune into four special buses. All these passengers have come from London. They were Institutional quarantined in a private hotel for 14 days. 

Pune District administration had intimated PMC about 80 international passengers out of which, 65 passengers came to Pune. 

Union government has announced "Vande Bharat" mission to evacuate Indians stranded in foreign countries. The mission was started from Thursday. At present, the government has focused on the Gulf and South-East Asian counties. After that, the government will begin to bring back Indians from Europe and other countries.

Maharashtra will be sending seven Air India flight to bring back Indian citizens from 9 countries 1900 passengers in the state are expected to take the flights.

Earlier the PMC commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad had said, "The State government will make arrangements of transportation of these passengers. The flight will land late night on Saturday. After screening them, they will be brought by road to Pune on Sunday morning."

"We have tied up with a private hotel for their lodging. We will give them options for the hotel based on their per day package. They will take a call on whether to stay in the hotel. After selecting the hotel option, they will be isolated for 14 days. PMC will not pay their lodging charges. They will have to pay the charges."
