Coronavirus Pune: 58 per cent patients recovered so far

Pune: Good news comes in for all the Punekars who are determined to win the war over coronavirus. Amidst the outbreak, the city can see the ray of hope as 58 per cent of its patients have been recovered so far and the death percentage has been down to 5 per cent. On one side, the city is observing a huge spike in fresh cases of the contagion, this news will prove as a booster for all.

The Pune Municipal Corporation has already created in microcontinent zones in the slum pockets of the city to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus. Many areas in the city including Bhavani Peth, Kasba Peth, Dhanori-Yerwada, some parts of Hadapsar and many are still in containment zones.

On Friday, Pune district witnessed new coronavirus cases with the tally of total cases have now jumped to 7,314. 11 deaths were reported on Friday which makes the death toll stands at 321 in the district. 228 cases were registered under Pune Municipal Corporation followed by 28 in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, 25 in rural parts whereas 21 from cantonment and civil surgeon.

On the other side, 358 people were discharged from the hospital on Friday. The total recoveries have now crossed the mark of 4,200.

ELDERLY REMAINS AT RISK

A 65-year-old woman from Yerwada was hospitalised on May 19 and succumbed to death on Friday. The woman was a cancer patient. Two 56-year-old men from Ganj Peth and Pandavnagar respectively also lost their lives. Also, an 87-year-old woman died due to the COVID-19 infection.
