Coronavirus Pune: 163 new cases with 11 deaths in district

Along with 163 new cases, the death toll in Pune district has crossed the mark of 300 due to the novel coronavirus on Wednesday taking the tally of COVID-19 cases over 6,600

The death tally of Pune district due to the novel coronavirus has crossed the mark of 300 on Wednesday. Along with 163 new cases reported, the district witnessed 10 deaths on Wednesday taking the total of positive cases over 6,600.

From 163, 105 new cases were reported at Pune Municipal Corporation whereas 13 from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation test positive. On the other hand, Pune rural witnessed 25 cases also 20 test positive in cantonment board areas.

Also, 184 patients were discharged from the hospital after the treatment on Wednesday. The total number of patients discharged after full recovery in the district now is over 3,539.

EMPLOYEES OF SERUM TEST POSITIVE

Three employees of Serum Institute of India have found positive for COVID-19 and they, along with their immediate contacts, have been admitted to the hospital. A total of five people have tested positive for coronavirus in Purandar area.

14 SRPF PERSONNEL TEST POSITIVE

According to reports, 14 State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) jawans placed in Pune have been tested positive for coronavirus. Two companies of the Pune-headquartered ‘Group 2’ of the SRPF including around 100 personnel each had been deployed in Dharavi area of Mumbai. The company returned to their base in Pune recently. Meanwhile, the SRPF units, based in Pune, Daund, Aurangabad, Aurangabad, Hingoli, Jalna have been the worst hit.

ANIL DESHMUKH DISMISSES 'MALICIOUS WHATSAPP RUMOURS'

Home Minister of the state Anil Deshmukh on Wednesday dismissed “malicious rumours” spreading on social media handles including WhatsApp that the Army is being positioned in Pune and Mumbai to impose a 10-day curfew.

Calling the rumours unsupported and false, Anil Deshmukh tweeted that Maharashtra Cyber Cell has already started an action against those who started to spread this rumour.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra is the worst affected state in the nation with 54,758 reported cases and 1,792 deaths, as per the reports from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
