Coronavirus Pune: 15 police personnel test positive, 6 were on duty in Alandi

15 policemen in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, including six on-duty personnel have been tested positive for the coronavirus. These newly tested results have taken the count of COVID-19 positive cases amongst police personnel in Pune to 162.

Seven policemen had tested positive in Pimpri Chinchwad, out of which six were posted at Alandi. Assistant Commissioner of Police, R Patil said, "So far 24 personnel from Pimpri Chinchwad police tested positive and 15 of them were discharged."

As a safety measure, the Pune police had to quarantine 38 police personnel on Wednesday, after eight policemen tested positive for the virus from different police stations.

Three out of these 162 personnel have already succumbed to the infectious virus. As of now, 54 policemen are still undergoing treatment for the same, and 105 have been discharged after recovering.

A senior police officer said, "The quarantined personnel does not have symptoms. The personnel who tested positive are also healthy and have been sent to institutional quarantine facilities."
