Coronavirus Maharashtra: COVID-19 positives double in 16 days in Pune district

On an average 107 COVID-positive patients are being identified everyday in Pune district - comprising Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad city, Cantonment Boards and rural areas in the district. Since the first patient was identified, in the last 93 days, the total number of coronavirus infected persons have crossed a total of 10 thousand on Wednesday (June 10).

Out of the 93 days, the last 16 days have seen a jump of 5000 cases. The Pune district COVID-positive patients number had crossed the 5000-mark on May 25 after the first patient was detected on March 9 in Pune city.

A total of 442 persons have died due to COVID-19 in the district. The first death was reported on March 29 and since then after 71 days the death count has reached 442. On average, 6 deaths are being reported in Pune district every day.

Pune city alone has 8296 cases

Pune city area alone has recorded 8296 cases till Wednesday morning. It includes 53 new cases reported in the past 12 hours. In Pimpri-Chinchwad 768 cases, municipal council areas 78 cases, and 419 cases in cantonment board areas have been recorded.

The highest number of casualties due to COVID-19 is reported in Pune city which is 394. While Pimpri-Chinchwad has 14 deaths, cantonment boards 14, municipal council areas 7 and rural district areas 13 deaths have been reported so far.
