Corona Warrior: Little ways of serving society

Pune: Contributing in a little way for the society 53 year old Rajesh Bhande has made face masks and has been distributing it. A forklift operator at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited, Bhande has been distributing these home-made masks to hospitals and among residents.

Bhande started this initiative after the nationwide lockdown was announced by PM Narendra Modi. He said, "After the nationwide lockdown was announced and the medical infrastructure needed help as cases were increasing in the state, the idea to make masks stuck me. Since I had an experience of working in hospitals earlier, I decided to volunteer by helping local hospital by providing them with the masks. I suggested this idea and they liked, later we started making masks at home."

Bhande extended his helping hands to the local hospitals of the city and helped them with masks without charging any money. He explained, "These home-made masks are made by my wife and my son helps her in that. It is our contribution to help the people in this difficult time when the entire world is fighting with the deadly disease."

Sharing the challenges of making masks at home, he said, "In the lockdown, there was a problem of availability of clothes to make the masks. However, we managed to distribute 500 + masks to the hospitals as well as the residents of my society and also extended this initiative for other senior citizens in my neighbourhood."

Bhande shared as the lockdown has eased out and with more availability of clothes and material, he will be extending this initiative to the corporates as well.
