PUNE: Prompt response from Pune city police beat marshalls saved the life of a woman in Hadapsar on Saturday, who was trying to commit suicide due to some domestic issue.
Around 1 pm, the control room received a call from the victim herself, seeking help. Accordingly Constables Amol Babar and Vilas Rathod, who were on beat marshall duty, were sent to the location.
After getting information about the incident, PSI Rajshri Patil and Police Naik Sambhaji Ramrao Bendre and constable Sachin Ashok Karpe also reached the spot. The woman had consumed poison. The door of her flat was locked from inside.
Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Sathe, in-charge of Hadapsar police station, said, “Without wasting time, they broke open the door and found that the woman had also cut her wrist and was unconscious. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in an autorickshaw. Later, she was shifted to another hospital as her condition was deteriorating. Now she is stable. The doctors told her family that timely help saved her life.”
