Cops nab member of Marne gang

PUNE: An aide of notorious goon Gajanan Marne was arrested by Anti-Organised Crime Cell of Pune Police Crime Branch on Friday night.

Officials said that the accused Ganesh Masurkar (25), a resident of Kalewadi in Bhor, has nine previous cases registered against him, including one murder and an attempt to murder.

Police said that he will be now booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), which makes it difficult to get bail.

MCOCA will be introduced in an old case of extortion against Masurkar. In 2016, he was arrested and subsequently released on bail in a case where he threatened to break down a beer shop, in Rajgadh police jurisdiction, unless the owner paid him Rs 3,000 per month.
