“We will intensify patrolling or provide permanent bandobast duty there. We will also write to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and MSEB for street lights if required." Sandeep Bishnoi told.

PIMPRI: Against the backdrop of Hyderabad gangrape and murder incident of a veterinary doctor, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have launched a drive to identify vulnerable and isolated spots especially in Hinjawadi IT Park and industrial areas in Bhosari, Chakan and other places.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Sandeep Bishnoi issued an order to all senior police inspectors in-charge of the police stations to compile the list. “We will intensify patrolling or provide permanent bandobast duty there. We will also write to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and MSEB for street lights if required. The IT Park and industrial areas have large women workforce. We are soon conducting meetings with the companies at the local police station level,” Bishnoi told Sakal Times.

According to police officials, strict action will be taken against drunkards on roads who are found in large numbers at all major chowks during night in the twin township. A list of sexual crime offenders is being prepared for taking preventive action against them. Also, as per the planned action, the local police station staff will spread more awareness about ‘BuddyCop’, which is a WhatsApp group of police personnel and working women to build confidence.

DCP (Crime) Sudhir Hiremath added, “We have also made beat diaries compulsory and the night round officer has to sign the diaries kept at strategic locations. It ensures that they visit various areas throughout the night.”
