Construction of multi-level parking facility at the airport to start soon

PUNE: The Pune Airport Authority is going to construct a multi-level parking facility, as the tender has been awarded to a city-based contractor. The construction will start soon and it will cost Rs 120 crore.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) had approved the structural plan of the seven-storey parking in front of the airport in January this year. The facility will be developed with a ?blended financial model? with AAI too investing some money along with the private party for setting up the facility. The facility is estimated to have a capacity to park 1,000 vehicles.

“The contract for this project has been awarded to Abhinav Rainbow Developers and Promoters, a city-based developer, recently. The company will be responsible for construction, operation and maintenance of the facility. The expenditure of this project is estimated to be Rs 120 crore. The facility will also have commercial outlets,” Ajay Kumar, Director Pune airport told Sakal Times

The new multi-level parking facility will be constructed in parking number one. The parking lot will serve several purposes. Once the building is constructed, it will take far less space as compared to now and the number of vehicles that can be parked will also increase.

“Our plan is to free the premises from the vehicle movement. At present, the movement of vehicles has increased. We want to enable the premises to be a free walkway for passengers. But we have to wait till the construction of the new terminal building and multi-level parking is ready for operation,” said Kumar.

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS
The Pune Airport Authority celebrated Christmas with the fliers on Tuesday and officials also interacted with them. There was music and a customer delight session which made the passengers happy.
