Constable held for molesting minor

Pune: A policeman from Mundhwa police station has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old girl, whom he had taken to drop to her house, when she was found with a male around 2 am on November 27.

The arrested Police Constable, Vikas Keshar Musle, has been charged for offences under Section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police, the girl and her 21-year-old friend were walking near Tadigutta Chowk, when they were found by the patrolling police team at around 2 am. The cops got them in the van and went to drop them home. “He tried to call my family member, but I requested him not to do so. Later, he asked us to get into the police van and offered to drop me home in Mundhwa. The van stopped outside the society gate. My friend and other policemen remained in the van, while Musle came to drop me till my house. However, he molested me near the lift and threatened me of dire consequences if I disclosed it to anyone,” the girl stated in her complaint.

The accused policeman was produced before the court, which remanded him to one-day police custody. Defence lawyers Vijay Thombre and Pushkar Patil opposed the police custody stating the cop had gone to drop her in good faith and the girl lodged the complaint fearing her parent’s wrath for walking with her male friend.
