“After the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress’ popularity has declined in Maharashtra and not even a calcium injection will help them,” Owaisi said.

Pune: Addressing the crowd at Mahatma Phule ground in Nana Peth on Sunday, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) National President Asaduddin Owaisi said that Congress has become weak in Maharashtra as its popularity has declined.

“After the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress’ popularity has declined in Maharashtra and not even a calcium injection will help them,” Owaisi said.

He was speaking at the campaign rally organised for the three candidates of MIM for the State Assembly elections. The party has fielded Zahid Shaikh from Hadapsar, Daniyal Landge from Vadgaon Sheri and Heena Momin from Pune Cantonment.

Owaisi claimed that after the Lok Sabha election people of this country have chosen MIM as the strong alternative to Congress.

Owaisi, who is also a MP, lashed out at the ruling BJP. “Since the BJP has come to power, there have been many incidents of mob lynching. Innocent people are being killed,  which is threatening our democracy,” he said.

MIM’s first-time MP from Maharashtra Imtiyaz Jaleel, who is the party’s star campaigner, said, “MIM has given the opportunity not based on caste or religion, which will bring some change.”
