Committee to review proposed BEd/MEd integrated course

PUNE: The State higher and technical education department has appointed a seven-member committee to review the proposed BEd/MEd integrated course under the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE). The committee will make recommendations about these newly proposed courses to be implemented in aided and unaided government colleges in the State.

The committee will be headed by Dhanraj Mane, the Director of Higher Education and Bhandara Suhas Patil, the member secretary of the committee and the principal of Government College of Education. 

The members of the committee are Panvel Rama Bhosale, Principal of Government College of Education, Vanita Kale, Principal of Shri Shivaji Education College, Amravati, Shrirampur Mukund Ponge, Principal of Swami Sahajanand Bharati College of Education, Lalit Vartak, Principal of Adarsh Comprehensive College of Education and Research, Erandwane and Associate Professor of Br SK Wankhede Education College, Nagpur.

There has been a low demand for BEd/MEd courses among youths which has led to several vacancies in colleges. The department has instructed the committee to either find an alternative to raise the demand among students or recommend shutting down of colleges have a large number of vacant seats.

They will also carry out a survey to find out whether there is a demand for BEd/MEd integrated courses among the students. They will also find out which other integrated courses have scope for job opportunities and if there are any models of integrated courses implemented in colleges outside Maharashtra.
