PUNE: District Collector Naval Kishore Ram on Thursday asked officials to provide all basic facilities to people as large number of people will be visiting Vijay Stambh in Koregaon Bhima for the upcoming anniversary of Bhima Koregaon battle on January 1.
A review meeting with different government departments was called by the collector at Collector’s office on Thursday.
The collector has asked officials to plan for the facilities required by the people on the day including supply of water tankers, installation of mobile toilets, providing transport facility by State Transport buses and PMPML for visitors. The collector has asked the Health Department to make arrangements of ambulance services and necessary medicines.
The collector has also asked for presence of fire tenders, CCTV cameras, parking facility, and electricity facility. He has asked the Public Works Department to repair roads near Perne Phata. He has asked the Food and Drugs Administration to exercise regular checks in the area on and before January 1 to avoid incidents of food poisoning.
Superintendent of Rural Police Sandip Patil has asked all officials to be alert on the day to avoid law and order issues. “We also need to be alert and keep monitoring social media to prevent spread of rumours,” added Patil. Similarly, the police officials will be planning traffic restrictions for the day.
