PUNE: To avoid incidents like the Malin landslide which claimed the lives of more than 150 persons, District Collector Naval Kishore Ram has asked the gram sevaks and talathis to regularly update the Pune district administration about the status of areas which are landslide-prone in the region.

Following the wall collapse incidents in Kondhwa and Ambegaon in which around 20 people were killed, he also asked the district administration to review the district to avoid such incidents again.

Individual authorities like Zilla Parishad, PMRDA and other authorities were also asked by the collector to give details of structures and areas which can be damaged due to natural calamities.

Five villages including Bhagatwadi, Pasarwadi, Asane, Bhendarwadi and Kalwadi in Ambegaon taluka face the risk of landslides and hence, the administration is planning to make temporary arrangements for these villagers till monsoon season gets over to avoid a major tragedy.

The local villagers of these five villages are also approaching the government authorities for their rehabilitation.  District officials are now visiting these villages and looking for options of rehabilitation of villagers and are also seeking the help of these villagers in the process.
