PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given the nod to provide land to Pune Mahanagar Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) to start Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro rail corridor.
On Thursday, Pune Corporation City Improvement Committee (CIC) approved the proposal of providing around 1.50 lakh square feet land to PMRDA Metro corridor.
PMRDA had demanded around 1.50 square metre of land to the PMC to start Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro rail corridor. They had given the proposal to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to hand over land so that they can start the Metro work as early as possible. Out of total 23.3 kilometre of Metro rail corridor, around 11 km metro line is passing through a Pune corporation limit, along with 10 metro stations and the PMRDA required 1.50 lakh square metre of land.
While speaking to media, Saurabh Rao, Municipal Commissioner, said, “The PMRDA has demanded land for the rail corridor. Most of the land has been mentioned in the development plan of Pune city. PMRDA is also ready to pay compensation to PMC for non-DP land to develop other facilities related to Metro. In a recent meeting with PMRDA officials, the PMC has made a proposal and tabled it to CIC for approval.”
The project cost of Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar is Rs 8,313 crore. It is an elevated metro line, which will originate from Hinjawadi Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, travel via Balewadi to Shivajinagar. It is 23.3-km corridor with 23 stations. It is the first metro project in India on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model after the New Metro Rail Policy of 2017. The project work is scheduled to start from January 2019.
