“I sort of assumed that I would be a part of the first five all-India rankholders based on my performance in the exam, and of course I am happy now that I have secured the second rank,” said Chugh. He added, “In order to excel in academics, you need to love to study. Unless you enjoy it, it’s hard to do well.”

Akshat’s father Vikas Chugh said, “Since he was a child, Akshat has always been focused on studies. We have never had to force him to study. Even as he grew older, he had his priorities set and knew what he wants to do in future.” Akshat scored 101 in physics, 112 in chemistry and 122 in mathematics to score 335 out of 366. He wants to pursue his graduation in computer science at IIT Bombay.

Akshat’s father is Vice President at Tata Sky, while his mother Ritu Chugh is a homemaker.
