City receives heavy rains

Pune: Pune experienced heavy rains on Friday and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain in various parts of the city in the coming days. The city recorded 28.6 mm rain till 8.30 pm

Officials from IMD said, “The southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Maharashtra, remaining parts of Marathawada, some parts of Vidarbha, some more parts of Chhattisgarh, most parts of Odisha, remaining parts of West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar.”

The officials said that in the past 24 hours, parts of Konkan, Goa, Marathwada and Vidarbha experienced very heavy rain, while rains were also seen in parts of central Maharashtra. They added that the low pressure area over southwest Bangladesh and neighbouring ares and an associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level still persists.
