Chill is back in Pune City

PUNE:  After a chilly start to January and a brief period of warm weather, Pune on Thursday again witnessed a slight drop in temperature. 

The city reported minimum temperature of 12.1 degrees Celsius. The day temperature was cool, 3.3 degrees less than normal.

The day temperature on Wednesday was reported at 30.2 degrees Celsius. With a sudden drop during the day, the day temperature on Thursday was reported at 26.1 degrees Celsius.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the night temperature is further set to drop as low as 10 degrees on January 17 whereas the day temperature is likely to be around 27 degrees Celsius on the same day.

However, post-January 17, the day as well as night temperatures are expected to rise in the city.

As per the predictions made by IMD, till January 22, the day temperature can go as high as 29 degrees Celsius and the night temperature can rise as high as 15 degrees Celsius.  The lowest minimum temperature across Maharashtra was reported at Nashik at 9.8 degrees Celsius.

NATIONAL SCENARIO
The lowest minimum temperature recorded over the plains was 1.5 degrees Celsius at Pilani in east Rajasthan.

As per IMD, colder day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand between January 17 and January 19. During the same time, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail over Saurashtra and Kutch.
