Child rights associations want education for all

PUNE: Demanding extension of the purview of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act up to 18 years of age, several organisations and NGOs working for the rights of children have demanded that qualitative education for all needs to be a part of the manifestos of all political parties.

Right to Education Forum, Campaign against Child Labour (CACL) and Alliance for the Right to Early Childhood Development have drafted the demands for the same.

Sushant Sonone of Action for the Rights of the Child (ARC) said that the organisations have submitted the draft of the demands to political parties that include need of action against child labour and effective implementation of RTE Act. “We too have been creating awareness in several communities about their rights. We have been insisting people to consider these issues while deciding to vote,” Sonone said.
