Pune: BJP State President Chandrakant Patil, who is contesting the forthcoming State Assembly polls from Kothrud, released the party’s constituency-centric manifesto on Wednesday.
Patil stressed on issues such as improving traffic, road infrastructure and garbage, LPG cylinder-free Kothrud and water supply.
Patil’s ‘Sankalpanama’ (manifesto) also includes the old issue of completing ‘Shiv Srishti’ project, Chandni Chowk flyover and e-bus facilities.
Patil, also BJP’s State unit chief, while speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, said, “I will speed up the old projects like metro rail and river rejuvenation. I will explore the option to build an elevated road to riverside road.” The agenda stated that the party will try to protect the biodiversity zones in the areas.
Patil said, “Our focus will be on dealing with problems like building wider roads and redevelopment of old housing. Many areas have roads which are six metres wide. They are to be widened to nine metres. But in the process, people should not lose their properties. Hence, options like giving more FSI for redevelopment may be considered.”
Patil said though a local manifesto, he would like to convey to voters his priorities about the constituency. Patil has faced criticism for contesting polls from Kothrud although he is native of Kolhapur.
Patil appealed to citizens, “There are few things I have mentioned in the manifesto. However, I am open to accepting any other meaningful suggestions for the development of Kothrud segment.”
He said other larger-scale issues concerning Pune that are to be dealt with include water scarcity.
