CCTVs to be installed at societies for geo-tagging

Pune: Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham on Wednesday said that the city police will soon get a separate wing for private security and about one lakh CCTV cameras will be installed in the city. The cameras will be marked with geo-tagging so that they can be easily located to check footage if any crime takes place nearby. 

He was speaking to residents during an interaction organised by the Baner-Balewadi-Pashan Residents Association (BBPRA) at Willows Society at Balewadi. The residents asked questions related to safety and security of senior citizens and people living in bungalows and independent houses, additional personnel at Balewadi police station, encroachment on newly constructed roads. They demanded police drive-by to curb problems of parking of trucks and rickshaws, cap on how many pubs and bars can be allowed in residential areas.

Along with the Commissioner, Senior Police Inspector Bhaskar Jadhav of Chatuhshringi police station, Vijay Varangaonkar, Chairman of Baner Balewadi Pashan Residents Association (BBPRA), corporators Baburao Chandere, , Swapnali Saykar, Swapnali Kalamkar and Jay Jaju, Chairman of Willows Society, Balewadi, were also present.
