Businessman and clerk arrested for forgery

A businessman and a clerk of Pune city police have been arrested for allegedly tampering with official records to change the permit area on a firearms licence possessed by the businessman.

PUNE:  A businessman and a clerk of Pune city police have been arrested for allegedly tampering with official records to change the permit area on a firearms licence possessed by the businessman.

The arrested persons have been identified as junior clerk Amar Keshav Pawar and businessman Rajendra Kashinath Bhintade. A first information report (FIR) has been registered against them with Bund Garden police station on charges of cheating and forgery.

A team led by senior Police Inspector Arun Waykar of the crime branch unit I nabbed them. According to the police, Bhintade offered Rs 25,000 to Pawar for changing the permit area on his gun licence. Pawar did not have the authority to change the permit area on firearms licences but he changed the permit area on Bhintade’s firearms licence as across India.
