BJP will change PCMC infra: CM

PUNE: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that the five-year rule of BJP government in Pimpri Chinchwad will totally change the infrastructure in the city. He was speaking at foundation stone laying event of various initiatives by PCMC at Ramkrishna More auditorium in Chinchwad on Wednesday. Fadnavis said that the previous government failed to serve the people and hence, the current government should work hard to serve people in a better manner.

“I have asked Police Commissioner RK Padmanabhan to study people’s problems, which will help police to serve people. We are not in the British era where police were ruling over people. Now, we are an independent nation and the police should adopt a positive approach to serve people,” added Fadnavis.

Speaking on conviction and detection rate of police, Fadnavis said that people should judge police on these two parameters. “We are proud that the conviction rate has increased from 9 per cent to 50 per cent and to 32 per cent in serious offences. Although, we are doing good, there is scope for improvement. We should work hard to change perception of people and they should feel safe,” added Fadnavis.

Speaking at the inauguration of new Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Guardian Minister Girish Bapat said, “The previous regime could not build a commissionerate in 40 years and we did it in four months.”

The chief minister laid the foundation stones of various initiatives by the click of a mouse. Initiatives like 5,000 homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, road development under urban street design plan were launched by the chief minister.

We have brought down the police response time to 10 minutes. We have also provided the phone-a-friend option to people where in people can call police if they need help. I have also asked police officials to keep their doors open for people,” added Padmanabhan. The commissioner said that the police are working on solving traffic issues of Hinjawadi IT park and Chakan MIDC.” The one-way traffic at Shivaji Chowk in Hinjawadi has helped to reduce traffic chaos at Hinjawadi,” added Padmanabhan.

MLA Mahesh Landge said that the police commissionerate has helped to reduce crime in the area. “Earlier, employees working in MIDC wear scared of returning home at night, but now, the situation has changed as they have trust in police,” added Landge.
