BJP MLA Mahesh Landge tests positive for COVID-19

Pimpri: Mahesh Landge, Pimpri-Chinchwad City Unit President and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), has tested positive for COVID-19. Landge was seen along with former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis a week back while he visited the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) hospital dedicated for coronavirus patients. 

Landge was elected from the Bhosari assembly constituency on BJP ticket. Landge showed symptoms of coronavirus after which his swab was collected by the health staff. His report came on Monday (June 29) which said he has tested positive for COVID-19. Landge has been been admitted to a private hospital in Chinchwad for further treatment. Pimpri-Chinchwad civic and health authorities said that contact-tracing for high risk people will done immediately. 

IN TOUCH WITH NUMBER OF PEOPLE

Landge was consistently working in his constituency and had met several office bearers, workers of the party in this period. He was also present for a review meeting in the Council Hall in presence of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Health Minister Rajesh Tope and others district officials and leaders. Landge had also held discussions with Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar in his antechamber recently.

Fadnavis had visited the YCM hospital on June 23 to take a review of the situation and preparations by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to battle the coronavirus outbreak. Many political leaders and their supporters came at the hospital premises to greet Fadnavis. Along with Landge, other prominent leaders who visited the hospital with Fadnavis were Mayor Usha Dhore and MLA Laxman Jagtap. During this entire visit, party leaders as well as supporters had violated social distancing norms completely. With Landge testing positive for Covid-19, all the party workers and leaders who came in close contact with him have been advised home quarantine. 

Earlier, a BJP corporator from Chinchwad, senior NCP leader and former corporator from Bhosari and six family members of a NCP corporator in Dapodi have been tested positive for coronavirus.
