BJP misleading public with fake info: Chavan

Pune: “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is misleading people with fake information of investments in Maharashtra. People need employment but government is showing only dreams to them,” said former chief minister of Maharashtra and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, hitting out at the ruling party.

In the backdrop of the State government’s ‘Magnetic Maharashtra’ initiative, he demanded the State to provide information of when, where and which companies invested in last four years in ‘Make-in Maharashtra’.

Chavan was in Pune on Wednesday. “Government has recently launched Magnetic Maharashtra to boost the economy of State and generate employment. However, they are not providing detailed statistics of last four years. Their information is misleading and incomplete,” he said.

He further added that Maharashtra’s rank in the country has gone down while Fadnavis claims to have completed 61 per cent projects with investment of Rs 5 lakh crore.

“They are claiming 30 lakh jobs have been generated but Maharashtra Industry Minister has revealed information of 42,000 job generation. Government is duping the public with misleading information,” Chavan claimed

Giving references of some international institute reports, he stated, “Now, Mumbai is not the financial capital of the country. Maharashtra has gone done in investment as compared to other states in the country. The investment is going to Gujarat, which has the upper hand over Maharashtra. I don’t know Prime Minister Narendra Modi is of India or Gujarat.”

Chavan’s criticism of Fadnavis government
† Maharashtra needs labour intensive industries such as construction, hotel, trade services, etc. However, government is investing in non-feasible projects like hyperloop, bullet train. Hyperloop technology is in nascent stage in the world. Some universities are running projects at experiment level and our government has decided to invest in it.
† Government should have invested in primary education and universities. However, Central government has given only Rs 50 crore to build world class universities in India. This is really surprising.

Reaction to PNB scam
† “Farmers don’t get a Rs 20,000 loan from bank, but government is giving crores of rupees to Nirav Modi. Government has given ‘Safe Passage’ for Nirav Modi and his family like Lalit Modi and Vijay Malya. After four days, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke on the issue. How can the finance minister keep quite for four days? Maharashtra government should answer the public as PNB scam happened in Mumbai,” Chavan said.
