BJP holds interviews for 3 assembly seats

PIMPRI: Taking no chances in case the BJP and Shiv Sena fight alone the upcoming State Assembly polls, the BJP on Monday night conducted interviews for all three Assembly seats in Pimpri Chinchwad.

Presently, the Pimpri Assembly seat is represented by Shiv Sena’s Gautam Chabukswar, while Chinchwad seat is represented by BJP’s Laxman Jagtap and Bhosari by independent MLA Mahesh Landge. Both Jagtap and Landge have now sought BJP’s nomination for another term in the State Assembly. It is almost certain that Jagtap and Landge will get BJP’s nomination.

The interviews held at the BJP city unit office here were conducted by Minister of State Ravindra Chavan. Altogether, 14 persons appeared for the interviews for the three seats.

BJP’s ally, RPI’s (Athavale) former Corporator Chandrakanta Sonkamble is also aspiring to contest from the Pimpri reserved seat.

Congress and NCP have already held interviews of aspirants for the three assembly seats in the city. The Shiv Sena is yet to seek applications from the party aspirants.

Meanwhile, anticipating there will be no alliance of the BJP and Shiv Sena, aspirants from both the parties have already launched their preparations for the Assembly elections.
