On Friday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Congress, Shiv Sena, Republican Party of India (RPI), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and other social organisations conducted agitation in the corporation and shouted slogans against the BJP.

In afternoon before starting corporation general body meeting, NCP Congress, Shiv Sena and MNS and other social organisations gathered at the corporation premises to protest against the policy. According to the policy, everyone has to pay parking charges in the city not only during daytime but also at night for parking any vehicles excluding bicycles.

Shiv Sena corporators wore black clothes and showed their opposition in general body meeting. While MNS corporators sat in front of general body meeting hall and shouted slogans against the BJP. City Congress Unit conducted an agitation in front of corporation main building's staircase. Sambhaji Brigade and Patit Pawan Sangathanath also protested against parking policy. They arrived with Baggi and Bullock carts, before the general body meeting at corporation gates. For around half hour, the corporation security officials had closed down all gates and restricted agitators to enter the premises. Meanwhile, MNS and Shiv Sena corporators gave plastic cars to Mayor Mukta Tilak to register their opposition to the policy.

The BJP is facing a lot of criticism within party corporators and opposition parties after passing policy in the standing committee meeting on Tuesday. On Wednesday, BJP's City unit chief, Yogesh Gogawale had called a meeting to discuss the parking policy within the party before giving final approval in general body meeting. In which, most of the corporators disagreed with party decision to approve the parking policy. Some corporators gave suggestions, while some of the corporators reacted very strongly against the policy. They said that it will a negative impact on upcoming state assembly poll.

After a lot of discussions and listening to the views of the corporators, the party decided to include some suggestions in existing policy and implement on few roads on an experimental basis.
