Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President Yogesh Tilekar tests positive for COVID-19

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President Yogesh Tilekar tests positive for COVID-19

Pune: A day after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporator and Mayor Murlidhar Mohol tested positive for Covid-19, another party leader Yogesh Tilekar and his son have also got their test report positive on Sunday. Tilekar is the State President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President and also in-charge of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Cell of the party.

Like Mohol, Tilekar too tweeted about his condition on Sunday morning. “Two days before, me and my son had a fever. We got tested ourselves for COVID-19 and the report has come positive. My condition is stable and with your blessings will recover soon. You all take care and stay safe,” Tilekar has said in his tweet. Tilekar has been shifted to a hospital for treatment and his condition is stable. Health officials have advised people to stay in quarantine who had come in close contact with him in the past few days.

He was Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Hadapsar constituency earlier and had lost the assembly elections held in October 2019 by just a margin of few hundred votes. He is known to be a close confidant of former Chief Minister and BJP MLA Devendra Fadnavis.

Many present and former MLA’s, corporators and party leaders are running a risk of getting infected by coronavirus as they are reaching out to needy people for help in their constituencies. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials and other staff have also tested positive for Covid-19 in the last few days.

Recently BJP MLA Mahesh Landge from Bhosari constituency of Pimpri-Chinchwad city had tested positive for COVID-19. Leaders like Mohol, Landge and Tilekar were seen together with many ministers and senior bureaucrats recently. They all attended all-important meetings conducted for strategising the effective containment of coronavirus and precautionary measures to be taken to reduce the number of positive cases, arrangement for healthcare facilities and more.
