NEW DELHI/PUNE: The Indian Army’s Bombay Engineer Group & Centre (BEG&C), Khadki, Pune, will celebrate its 200 glorious years of existence in January 2020.
To celebrate the feat, a team of four officers and 16 other ranks (janas) led by Major P Arvind, including a medical officer, will attempt to summit Mount Baljuri, a rock and snow type peak located in the region of Pindari Glacier, Bagashwar in Uttarakhand on September 22, 2019.
The Mount Baljuri peak is at an elevation of 5,922 metres and the climb requires a sound knowledge of technical climbing.
The Bombay Sappers Mountaineering Expedition to Mount Baljuri was flagged off by Lieutenant General SK Shrivastava, Engineer-in-Chief, Integrated Headquarter (IHQ) of Minister of Defence (Army), in the presence of Lieutenant General Michael Mathews, Colonel Commandant, ‘The Bombay Sappers’ on Thursday from Kashmir House in New Delhi.
