PUNE: Balbharti has decided to digitise around 150 books ranging from British era onwards in order to conserve them. Balbharti has some rare textbooks that were part of communication during the colonial period.
Balbharti’s library has around 1.5 lakh textbooks of classes I to XII in Marathi, English, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Sindhi, Pali and Sanskrit. These books are used as reference material for the new books. After Balbhari was founded in the year 1967, people submitted copies of old books that they had to the organisation.
“Balbharti will be digitising textbooks, magazines and encyclopedias from 1837 to 2004. The books after 2005 have already been digitised. The work will be carried out in the next seven months,” said sources from Balbharti.
