Another case registered for violence

PUNE: About 11 months after the violence at Koregaon-Bhima, another FIR has been registered by the Pune rural police.

Mangal Kamble (55) of Koregaon-Bhima has lodged the complaint with Shikrapur police station. She told the police that the food stall was vandalised by a group of people at around 11 am on January 1. She was also attacked with a wooden stick. The food stall was in one of the rooms of her house which was also damaged.

After the incident, her family shifted to Hadapsar. The police conducted a panchnama after the incident but she had earlier not informed about the total loss. She has now pegged the total loss at Rs five lakh.

The case has been registered against 25 persons including Sangram Dherange, Prakash Kashid, Mukund Gavhane, all residents of Koregaon-Bhima and Vishal Gavhane, a resident of Digrajwadi.

Rahul Dambale Chief Convenor of Atrocity Janjagran Parishad, said that a government committee should be formed this year to prevent untoward incidents at Koregaon-Bhima on January 1, 2019.

COPS TO FORM SIT
The Pune Rural Police have decided to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to track down the absconding accused in Koregaon-Bhima riots case.

Recently, Bhartiya Republican Yuva Morcha President Rahul Dambale met senior officials of Pune Rural Police requesting them to launch a detailed probe into the absconding accused. He claimed more than 1,500 accused are absconding and only 104 were arrested, which triggered the decision to form the SIT.

Additional SP Sandip Jadhav in a letter issued to Dambale dated December 3 stated that two of his requests have been agreed to. The first was registration of an FIR against persons who attacked Kamble’s  house in Koregaon-Bhima while the second was to constitute an independent SIT to investigate the riots.
